At around 2:20 p.m. Friday, June 16, Suffolk County Police received a 911 call from the Gladstone Avenue resident who called from a neighbor’s house.

When officers arrived, she repeated the information and officers surrounded the house, Suffolk County Police said.

A short time later, a family member exited the home after observing the police activity and told officers there was no one inside.

A check of the house revealed there was no one in the house.

The woman, identified as Melissa O’Brien, age 32, was charged with falsely reporting an incident.

An officer responding to the call was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Saxon Avenue and Union Boulevard in Bay Shore.

The officer was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for non- life-threatening injuries. The other driver was not injured.

O'Brien was issued a field appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on Thursday, July 6.
